Course Description: Students work with the instructor and WLC faculty advisors to research, synthesize, write and present their Capstone projects. Students will also assemble a Graduation Portfolio reflecting how each MLO was met. This course is required for all Japanese, Spanish and World Languages and Cultures majors.
In this course, I had the opportunity to start exploring ideas for my Capstone project. I came into the class unsure of what I wanted to do, but in the class we had the opportunity to work in groups which helped me learn more about their projects and the things that I could possibly do as well. My group members were some of the biggest help in creating an idea that I am excited to continue exploring. I never had to do an annotated bibliography before and this class taught me the importance of taking notes of all of the sources that are necessary for research. By the end of the course, I developed research questions, identified sources, developed an outline, and created a schedule for the Spring. This course helped me prepare my focus for my Capstone project. One of the most challenging parts of this course was trying to create a research topic for my capstone. It took a lot of work, and in the end, I still changed my capstone topic in the next semester. Overall, this class helped me prepare for the upcoming capstone course and I am glad that it was part of my requirements.
Below, I have attached a group essay that classmates and I wrote about connecting with readers.
