Under this criteria, I am taking the WLC 400: Major Capstone (Spring 2018). In this class I will be researching a literary topic and looking at past research to help my investigation. Please see the Capstone Project tab for more information.
Under this criteria, I am taking the WLC 400: Major Capstone (Spring 2018). In this class I have researching a literary topic and looking at past research to help my investigation. We utilized the book The Craft of Research (Booth, 2008) to help learn skills for finding information, writing a literature review, abstract and writing about the research. In our class, we have worked on creating research questions that will help guide us in our investigation. After creating questions that address who, what, where, when, why, how, and methodology for our project, we began to search for information. The first things we looked for was research that has already been completed on the topic of our choice. For example, I am studying the ontology in the short stories of Julio Cortázar. On the CSUMB library database, I searched for anything written about the author and about ontology. After finding this information, I created a literature review that will be used in the final capstone paper. Once I had this initial research, I was able to create a hypothesis and an abstract. After having a solid topic, I created a timeline of when things would need to be completed. This is still a class that I am working on. From here until the end of the semester, I will continue to write on my findings and create the presentations that I will be presenting to the WLC faculty, my peers, and the community.
